The British Geotechnical Association (BGA) is pleased to announce a new scheme whereby a limited number of free student places will be made available for the Rankine Dinner after the Rankine Lecture. BGA Chair Professor David Toll said ‘The BGA is proud to have developed this scheme as a way of allowing more students to attend the lecture and dinner, to help build better links with industry’.
The call for applications are now open for the ballot for free student places at the 2023 Rankine Lecture and Dinner to be given by Professor John Carter of University of Newcastle, in New South Wales, Australia.
The lecture and dinner will be held at Imperial College, London on 15 March 2023.
It is expected that the number of applications will exceed the number of places available, so final places will be allocated at random by ballot from the applications. A number of seats are available, with each winner being allocated to a different host geotechnical company. This is a highly prestigious event with many of the past Rankine lecturers attending. You are encouraged to register—it is an event not to be missed!
