Nominations Requested for Rocha Medal 2017

Since 1982 a bronze medal and a cash prize have been awarded annually by the ISRM for an outstanding doctoral thesis in rock
mechanics or rock engineering, to honour the memory of Past President Manuel Rocha. An invitation is now being extended to the whole Rock Mechanics community, for nomination for the Rocha Medal 2017.


Each nomination shall conform to the ISRM By Law No 7, namely as concerns Articles 2 and 3, and shall be received by the ISRM Secretary-General not later than 31 December 2015.

Professional Review for Geotechnical Engineers

On Monday 9th February the BGA Early Career Group will be hosting a meeting to discuss the new changes to Initial Professional Development and provide guidance for geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists on how to approach the professional review. Mike Rogers (Professional Development Manager, ICE) and David Beadman – (Director, Byrne Looby Partners), both of whom are current reviewers will provide their advice.
